How to make a gift of stocks and bonds
Please contact us for instructions on how you can transfer stock or bonds from your brokerage or investment account to ECM.
Electronic Transfer (Most Common):
- Contact your brokerage: Inform them you want to donate stock or bonds and inquire about their specific procedures.
- Provide details: You'll need to give the ECM's name, their brokerage account information, and the specific stock or bond symbols and quantity you're donating.
- Initiate the transfer: The brokerage will handle the electronic transfer of the securities to the ECM's account.
Physical Certificate Transfer (Less Common):
- Endorsement: If you have physical stock certificates, you'll likely need to endorse them with a signature guarantee from your bank. This verifies your ownership and prevents misuse.
- Delivery: Send the endorsed certificates via certified mail with a return receipt to ensure delivery confirmation to ECM.
